Some stories are only ever told in a lowered voice. I write those down.
I have been watching movies since before I could properly talk. The first one I saw in a theatre was The Polar Express. The next one that felt like magic was The Water Horse, and after that there were too many to count.
Horror came later. I grew up on it, and on the stories people tell about things they saw once and could never explain. I heard them as a kid and I never really stopped listening. By 2014 my friends and I were writing our own, four or five pages at a time, just to see who we could scare.
In 2022, when I was nineteen, I started my first real story. The Witness, although it had no name back then. For months it was just "the new one". I remember reaching the last page and already wanting the next one. Three more followed. The Unconfessed is the first one out, and the rest are right behind it.
Somewhere in the last decade, horror stopped being frightening. Better the devil we know, people say. I write about the other one.
